Artist's Comments
This was my entry for the Vue Environment Competition 2009 by e-on-software. Unfortunately, this image was not chosen to be a finalist one. I hope you will appreciate it more than e-on software team did.

Critiques
I'm surprised you wanted critique, this is head and shoulders above 90% of the Vue art I see around here and even on the Cornucopia galleries too. But I guess a better sense of depth and scale could be added by including one small dead tree in the foreground just to give that some visual interest. However it could potentially draw attention away from the night, which is a small, but significant part of it. But who knows, you could position it so a main branch or whatever is pointing in his direction leading the eye to him
The direction of the water flow I reckon could be rotated too, here it looks like a rushing river coming from the land towards the front-right, which would be physically impossible, having the function stretched in another direction so it almost looks like its running parrallell to the main land (where the man is standing) would probably be more convincing...Although a more uniform water function and less bump would also work well, suggesting a still lake anyway
Fantastic use of trees though! Normally I can spot a Vue tree from a photo one from a mile away, even considering how fantastic Vue trees usually come out, but these almost look like photo-manips in some places, and that's really good
